PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Academy Juniors Program is offered as both an alternative and a complimentary program to the Recreational Program and provides for advanced development of players ages U5 through U6. The program focuses on developing the fundamentals of dribbling and shooting through technical training sessions and 2 v 2 festival-style play. This program is designed for any player interested in further developing age-appropriate fundamental skills, while having fun and scoring goals! Academy Juniors are coached by staff coaches working within a club-wide curriculum developed by the Director of Player Development and Academy Director. 

PLAYING FORMAT

Academy Juniors Program participants will meet once each week, over an eight-week season, and take part in festival-style play in which players will be divided into 2 v 2 teams for the session. 2 v 2 games will consist of two (2) halves of three (3) minutes each, as well as a halftime break of one (1) minute and will be played with a size three (3) ball on a goal six and one-half (6 1/2) feet in height, by ten (10) feet in width. Players will participate in 5 to 6 games within each festival-style play session.

FEE STRUCUTURE

The Academy Juniors Program fee structure requires players to pay a fee of $160 covering an eight week season. Participants will be given the option to pay the full player fee at registration or one-half of the fee at registration with the remainder due midway through the season. Players will receive a Sporting Oklahoma Academy Juniors Jersey as part of registration. 

TRAINING FORMAT

Academy Juniors Program participants ages U5-U6 will have the opportunity to attend one training session per week, over an eight-week season, immediately preceding festival-style play. The training portion of weekly sessions will focus on developing the age-appropriate fundamentals of possessing the ball, dribbling and shooting with an emphasis on developing the individual player. 

UNIFORM POLICY

Academy Juniors Program participants will receive a Sporting Oklahoma Academy Juniors Jersey as part of registration. Players are asked to wear dark blue or navy shorts and dark blue or navy socks with their jersey. Navy Adidas Parma Shorts and Navy Adidas Metro Socks are recommended, but not required.
