National 1 League (N1)

National 1 (N1) is the top team-based competition platform within US Club Soccer and US Youth Soccer, bringing together US Club Soccer’s National Premier Leagues (NPL) and US Youth Soccer’s National League into one unified national structure. Designed to reduce fragmentation in the youth soccer landscape, N1 creates a clearer and more connected pathway for competitive teams while emphasizing high-level regional competition, long-term player development, and meaningful advancement opportunities. Featuring teams in the U13 through U19 age groups, National 1 provides players with access to a competitive environment connected to the broader ECNL pathway.

OVERVIEW

Competitive Program participants ages U11 - U19 will have the opportunity to compete in the Frontier Premier League, which serves as South District 1 of the National 1 League (N1). The league is built around team-based competition, allowing individual teams to earn their place through performance, standards, and evaluation. National 1 is designed to provide more balanced competition, reduce unnecessary travel, and connect local and regional leagues to a clearer national pathway.

The National 1 postseason is integrated with the ECNL Conference League Playoffs. Qualifying National 1 teams will compete alongside qualifying ECNL Regional League teams through regional playoff events, culminating in the ECNL Conference League Finals. This postseason structure provides top-performing teams with a meaningful national championship pathway and expanded exposure opportunities. National 1 also creates an advancement pathway within the broader youth soccer structure. While promotion is not automatic, high-performing clubs may be considered for promotion into the ECNL Regional League based on performance, standards, and evaluation within the connected pathway.

TRAINING FORMAT

Competitive Program participants ages U13-U19 competing in the N1 will attend two training sessions per week.
